Papules and pustules are the next, more severe form of acne. If whiteheads and blackheads don't have the inflammation, the papules and pustules do. The appearance of papules and pustules indicates the beginning of a more severe acne form - pustular acne associated with the beginning of the inflammation process. Papules are formed by breaking the walls of the hair canal. As a result of that, the inflammation begins to develop.
The pustules appear in the form of pink nodules formed on the place of comedones and usually appear within a few days after the appearance of papules. The contents of pustules usually come out to the surface. Pustules if not treated effectively leave behind pigmentation, dark spots and even scars.
